“Rowdy Baby” becomes the First South Indian (and Tamil) song to get 1.5 Billion views on YouTube

Most famous composition of Yuvan Shankar Raja and the most popular song of Sai Pallavi and Dhanush, “Rowdy Baby” from the movie Maari 2 has set a new record by becoming the first South Indian (and Tamil) song to garner more than 1.5 billion (150 crore) views on YouTube.

Officially released on 28 November 2018, as a single from the film ‘Maari 2’, “Rowdy Baby” went viral instantly and has earned huge popularity among the music and dance lovers. The song has crossed the 1 billion view-mark in November 2020, and was also recognised as:

  • Second fastest South Indian as well as Tamil language video to reach 100 million views in 17 days
  • First Tamil song to cross 500 million views
  • 7th in the list of ‘YouTube’s Most-Watched Music Videos of 2019 Globally’
  • 20th in the list of ‘Most-Viewed Indian YouTube Videos’

Sung by Dhanush and Dhee, the song was choreographed by the renowned dancer Prabhu Deva.
